This course covers the basics of electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS). It covers how to interpret and use ECDIS displays, as well as how to input and manage information. The course also covers the legal aspects of ECDIS, including carriage requirements and chart updates.
The course meets the requirements laid down in 2010 Manilla Amendments of the STCW, specifically applying to Code A, Section A-II/I,Table A-II/I, Section A-II/2, Table A-II/2 & Section A-II/3, Table A-II/3 & code B, Section B-I/I2, Paras 36-66 & Section B-II. The candidates has completed training in the Navigational use & operation of ECDIS based on guidlines given in IMO Model Course 1.27.
